Arts Clayton Art Camp
Arts Clayton would like to sincerely thank all of you who helped us make the 15th Annual 2008 Art Camps such a great success! Please check back often for information about the 2009 Art Camps.
Kaleidoscope Camp
Be creative with Summer Plans for your children! Each year in June, Arts Clayton presents two weeks of art-packed fun at the Kaleidoscope Summer Art Camps! Through fun and creative art-related activities, instruction and special programs, elementary age children from all across the south metro area will receive hands-on instruction about art, photography, dance, drama, music and more.
A FREE T-Shirt and mid-morning snacks are provided for all campers.
Through fun and creative art related activities and daily programs, children ages 6 to 11 years, (entering 1st through 6th grades next fall) received hands-on learning about art, dance, drama and music.
Part of each day at camp focuses on performing arts and includes singing, acting, instrument instruction, stage movement (dance), and acting. Campers are able to indicate their preferred activity during the registration process prior to camp.
The other part of the day is devoted to visual art instruction. Arts Clayton works with some of the finest artists in our community who offer classes in sculpture, photography, painting and sketching/drawing. (Again, campers select their preferences during registration).
At the conclusion of the two weeks of Art Camp, the campers present a musical performance and an art exhibit for family, friends & community!
Special visits and programs in 2008 included:
- A visit from renowned children's literature illustrator Michael White
- A theatrical performance of Tales from Near and Far by Offshoot Productions
- The art of storytelling by KUUMBA Storytellers
- An amazing puppet and animation show by Al Waller and the Be A Know It All Varmints!
- Clayton County Police and Fire Departments
After Camp art classes will also be available to registered Kaleidoscope Campers. For a nominal additional fee, kids enrolling in After Camp bring a bag lunch and remain each day until 2 PM for additional art classes. Openings are VERY limited and available on a first-come basis.
Young Teen Camp
Arts Clayton will again offer Summar Art Camp for Young Teens, which has been specially created and designed for middle school students entering the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades next fall.
The program welcomes the return of the ever popular Cartooning and Animation classes and also offers instruction in Photography, Drawing, Painting, and Theatre Arts for the rising young stars!
The two-week Theatre Camp students will be exposed to elements of stage movement, acting, costuming, improvisation, and audition techniques. Actors will learn not only basic skills, but will tap into their own experiences and imagination to perform and communicate. The final production will receive a public performance!
